Terms of Use

Last updated: August 19, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Dogsittr covering your use of the Dogsittr iOS app, the booking pages we host on dogsittr.com, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

1. The service

Dogsittr is a business management tool for independent dog sitters, dog walkers, and pet care professionals. It helps you keep a client roster, record bookings, raise and track invoices, record walks, log expenses, estimate tax, publish a booking page, and draft update messages for pet owners.

Dogsittr is not a marketplace. We do not find you clients, employ you, introduce you to pet owners, vet or insure anyone, or take part in the care arrangement between you and your client. Your relationship with your clients is entirely your own, and you are solely responsible for the pet care services you agree to provide.

We do, however, provide the payment tools described in section 7 if you switch them on. When you do, card payments for your services are processed through Stripe and we facilitate that flow — but the service being paid for is yours, not ours, and you remain the person contracting with the owner.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@dogsittr.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Your data and your clients

The business records you create in Dogsittr — your clients, their dogs, bookings, invoices, walks, expenses, photos and notes — belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and use them only to operate the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Because that information includes personal details about other people, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and store it, for handling it in line with any privacy laws that apply to you, and for the accuracy of what you enter. That includes photos: only upload a picture of a dog, a person or a document if you are entitled to hold and share it. Do not upload information you are not entitled to hold.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Subscriptions and billing

Dogsittr is free to use with up to 5 clients. Every other feature — bookings, invoices, payment requests, the booking page, walk tracking, expenses and receipts, analytics, the tax estimator, calendar import, widgets, AI updates and emergency guidance — is included in the free plan at no cost.

Dogsittr Premium is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks unlimited clients. It costs $4.99 per month in the United States; prices may vary by region.

The AI features carry fair-use limits — currently 100 generated updates and 30 emergency chat messages per account per day, counted in UTC. The limits apply on the free and paid plans alike, protect the service from runaway cost, and may change; the app tells you when you have reached one.

Referral codes. We sometimes issue codes that unlock Premium at no charge. A code is a gift, not a purchase: it has no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, is not redeemable through Apple, and gives you no refund rights against Apple or us. We may deactivate a code, or withdraw an entitlement granted by one, if it is shared publicly, redeemed in bulk, or used to abuse the service. Nothing in this paragraph affects a subscription you have actually paid for.

6. Your booking page

You can publish an optional public page at dogsittr.com under a short name you choose, showing the services, rates and details you select, where pet owners can send you a booking request. You control whether the page is on, what it shows, and whether it accepts requests.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what the page says about you, including rates, capacity, experience and availability. Availability shown on the page may not reflect bookings you have not entered in the app, and you should confirm you are actually free before accepting a request. We may reclaim a page name that impersonates someone else, and we may take a page down if it breaches these Terms.

A booking request is a request, not a confirmed booking. Nothing obliges you to accept one.

7. Card payments and Stripe

If you switch payments on, this is what happens and who is responsible for what:

8. Terms for pet owners

If you are a pet owner using a sitter's booking page, this section applies to you and the rest of these Terms applies where relevant.

9. AI-generated updates

The daily update feature drafts a message using an AI model, based on the activities and mood you select and any notes you add. The output is a draft for you to review. AI can produce wording that is inaccurate, inappropriate for the situation, or not what you intended.

You are responsible for reading each message before you send it and for everything you send to your clients. Do not use a generated draft to convey urgent, medical or safety-critical information — say that in your own words, directly.

10. Emergency guidance is not veterinary advice

The Emergency screen lists poison-control numbers, helps you find a nearby veterinarian, and offers an AI chat that suggests how urgent a situation appears to be.

It is not veterinary advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for a veterinarian. No vet-patient relationship is created by using it. It can be wrong, it can understate how serious something is, and it may be unavailable exactly when you need it. In any emergency, contact a veterinarian, an emergency animal hospital, or a poison-control service, and follow their instructions over anything the app says. Never induce vomiting or administer anything to an animal unless a veterinary professional tells you to. Tell the animal's owner as soon as you can.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any outcome arising from reliance on that feature, including injury to or death of an animal.

11. Walk tracking and location

The Walk Tracker records your device's location while a walk is running, so it can map the route and measure the distance. Recording starts only when you tap Start a Walk and stops when you tap Finish; you can revoke the location permission in iOS Settings at any time, and the feature will simply stop working. Distances, times and routes are approximate and depend on GPS conditions — do not treat them as a precise record for any purpose that matters legally or commercially.

A route shows where you and someone's dog actually were. If you share a walk summary with an owner or anyone else, that is your decision and your responsibility.

12. Tax estimates and financial figures

The tax estimator produces a rough estimate only. It assumes a single filer who is self-employed and taking the standard deduction, uses approximate state figures, and cannot account for your full circumstances. Revenue, analytics, expense summaries and the Schedule C export reflect only what you have entered into the App, and estimate tax on gross income without deducting your expenses unless a screen says otherwise.

None of this is tax, accounting, legal, or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions or filing returns.

13. Third-party services

The App can optionally import a booking calendar from a platform such as Rover or Wag using an iCal URL that you supply. This is a read-only convenience feature. Dogsittr is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Rover, Wag, or any other platform, and those names are the trademarks of their respective owners. We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of data those services provide, and your use of them remains subject to their own terms — including any rules they have about how their bookings may be handled elsewhere.

The Service also relies on third-party infrastructure: Supabase for data storage, Anthropic for AI generation, Stripe for payments, Apple for sign-in, subscriptions, push notifications, maps and walk weather, and Cloudflare for hosting. Their roles are described in our Privacy Policy. An outage or change at any of them can interrupt part of the Service.

14. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, and its content — excluding the business records you enter — are owned by Dogsittr and protected by intellectual property law. Subject to these Terms, you get a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.

You keep everything you write and upload. You grant us only the limited licence we need to store it, display it back to you, publish the parts you choose to put on your own booking page, and process it to deliver the features you use.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and can permanently delete your account and all associated data from More → Profile → Delete Account — profile, clients, bookings, invoices, expenses, walks, booking requests, push tokens and stored images. That deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Records held by Stripe or Apple about payments and purchases are outside our control.

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to other users or to the service. We may also discontinue the Service; if we do, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice so you can export your data.

16. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, that notifications will always arrive, or that data will never be lost. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of records that matter to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dogsittr will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, or lost data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — including any missed notification, any inaccurate route or estimate, any AI output, and anything that happens to an animal. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Dogsittr harmless from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from the pet care services you provide, the payments you take, the personal information about other people that you store in the Service, or your breach of these Terms. This does not apply to claims caused by our own breach of these Terms.

18. Apple-required terms

These Terms are between you and Dogsittr only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. You acknowledge that:

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence says otherwise.

21. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dogsittr about the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor if the business is sold, on notice to you.
